CANADIAN FIREARMS SAFETY COURSE (PAL):


The training provided in the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) prepares students with beginner-level knowledge on the responsibilities of possessing and using non-restricted firearms. The course focuses on the safe use, handling, and legal requirements for the possession, transportation and storage of firearms and ammunition.

If you are interested in firearms safety, acquiring a firearm, or work which involves the use of firearms (movies and acting, outdoor careers, law enforcement), this is an excellent foundational course.

Successful completion of this course is also the legal requirement to apply for a federal firearms Possession and Acquisition license (PAL), which enables you to possess and acquire non-restricted firearms.  To possess and acquire restricted firearms (handguns, some types of rifles), you will also need to complete the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course.

COURSE INCLUDES:

Instruction, testing, course documentation for submission to the RCMP. Coffee and water will be supplied free of charge.

COURSE MANUAL:

You are required to have the CFSC official manual with you when taking this course. Options:

PRIMARY LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Using lectures, demonstrations, and supervised physical skills performance with deactivated firearms and inert ammunition, the candidate will learn:

  • Basic firearms safety practices including ACTS and PROVE
  • Ammunition identification, types and storage
  • Operating different types of firearm actions
  • Safe handling and carrying of firearms and ammunition
  • Responsibilities of the firearms owner/user
  • Safe storage, display, and transportation of firearms
  • Review of Canadian firearms laws and regulations

PREREQUISITES:

There is no prerequisite training required to attend this course. Pre-reading of the required manual will enhance your course experience and is highly recommended.

PROHIBITIONS:

If you are subject to any legal firearms or weapon prohibitions, you are not permitted to take this course.

    The training provided in the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) prepares students with beginner-level knowledge on the responsibilities of possessing and using restricted firearms such as handguns, including revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. The course focuses on the safe use, handling, and legal requirements for the possession, transportation, and storage of restricted firearms.

    If you are interested in firearms safety, acquiring or possessing a restricted firearm, or work which involves the use of restricted firearms (movies and acting, outdoor careers, armed guard or law enforcement), this is an excellent foundational course. Successful completion of this course is also the legal requirement to apply for a federal restricted firearms Possession and Acquisition license (RPAL).

    Please note this course is restricted to adults (18+).

    CANADIAN RESTRICTED FIREARMS SAFETY COURSE (RPAL) DESCRIPTION:

    The training provided in the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) prepares students with beginner-level knowledge on the responsibilities of possessing and using restricted firearms such as handguns, including revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. The course focuses on the safe use, handling, and legal requirements for the possession, transportation, and storage of restricted firearms.

    If you are interested in firearms safety, acquiring or possessing a restricted firearm, or work which involves the use of restricted firearms (movies and acting, outdoor careers, armed guard or law enforcement), this is an excellent foundational course. Successful completion of this course is also the legal requirement to apply for a federal restricted firearms Possession and Acquisition license (RPAL).

    Please note this course is restricted to adults (18+).

    COURSE INCLUDES:

    Instruction, testing, course documentation for submission to the RCMP, frameable course certificate. Coffee and water will be supplied free of charge. Students must bring own lunch and snacks.
