RPAL

CANADIAN RESTRICTED FIREARMS SAFETY COURSE (RPAL) DESCRIPTION:

The training provided in the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) prepares students with beginner-level knowledge on the responsibilities of possessing and using restricted firearms such as handguns, including revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. The course focuses on the safe use, handling, and legal requirements for the possession, transportation, and storage of restricted firearms.

If you are interested in firearms safety, acquiring or possessing a restricted firearm, or work which involves the use of restricted firearms (movies and acting, outdoor careers, armed guard or law enforcement), this is an excellent foundational course. Successful completion of this course is also the legal requirement to apply for a federal restricted firearms Possession and Acquisition license (RPAL).

Please note this course is restricted to adults (18+).

COURSE INCLUDES:

Instruction, testing, course documentation for submission to the RCMP, frameable course certificate. Coffee and water will be supplied free of charge.

COURSE MANUAL:

You are required to have the CFSC official manual with you and available for reference when taking this course. Options:

PRIMARY LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Using lectures, demonstrations, and supervised physical skills performance with deactivated restricted firearms and inert ammunition, the candidate will learn:

  • ·         Basic firearms safety practices including ACTS and PROVE
  • ·         Ammunition identification, types, and storage
  • ·         Operating different types handgun actions (revolver and semi-automatic)
  • ·         Safe handling, loading and unloading of restricted firearms
  • ·         Responsibilities of the restricted firearms owner/user
  • ·         Safe storage, display, and transportation of restricted firearms
  • ·         Review of Canadian firearms laws and regulations

PREREQUISITES:

You must have attended and passed the (non-restricted) CFSC course prior to attending this course. You may register for both courses at the same time, but they must be completed in order.

Pre-reading of the required manual will enhance your course experience and is highly recommended.

PROHIBITIONS:

If you are subject to any legal firearms or weapon prohibitions, you are not permitted to take this course.

COURSE COST:

The cost of the CFSC course & tests (per person) is $150.00 plus GST

KDFGC professional training facilities include free parking, separate and accessible washrooms, and a large climate-controlled classroom.

CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS:

KDFGC reserves the ability to cancel courses due to low registration, instructor illness, or situations beyond our control. If this occurs, a full refund of all fees will be provided.

Similar to purchasing a concert ticket or any “reserved seating” event, all seat sales are final. Should you be unable to attend your course date, you are free to transfer your seat reservation to another person.
